Live at World Food Day

Mauritzkazerne , Ede

In 1979, the United Nations created World Food Day to draw attention to food security. We still look at this question every year in October. But we also look at other important food issues. Where is the balance in our food system? Why do nearly a billion people go to bed with an empty stomach in the evening, while almost twice as many people are overweight? How can we solve this inequality?

In about 150 countries world food day is 'celebrated' on 16 October. But almost nowhere is it such a big event as in the Netherlands. Here we celebrate the beautiful side of our food and at the same time we pay attention to the more difficult side of our food. This event took place in the Edese Mauritskazerne in 2017. This year it is Den Bosch's turn to draw attention to issues concerning food, hunger, climate change and health.
